Chapter 3 — The Wait
Viña Männle
European heritage on Chilean soil
Wine demands time. The Männles show it also demands the patience to start over.
In Bulnes, Thati meets Heinrich and Martin Männle, father and son united by wine. Their story speaks of migration, reinvention and resilience: a pause in the journey to discover that time can also be an answer.
The land
A story between two worlds
Winemaker Heinrich Männle arrived in Chile from Germany in 1987, continuing a family winemaking tradition that began in the early 20th century in Durbach.
After studying different parts of the country, he chose Bulnes, in the Itata Valley, to build a project he now carries on with his son Martin. The winery works with grapes from Bulnes, Coelemu, Quinchamalí, Chillán Viejo and Rucapequén.
Its wines have won awards at national and international competitions, and the brand reports distribution in Brazil, Germany and Taiwan. Two generations and two countries united by one idea: making time and patience part of the wine.
