Chapter 2 — The Body
Viña Mujeres
The feminine identity of wine
Here wine is passed down among women: from the land to the hands, from one generation to the next.
Thati arrives in Ránquil to discover a winery where wine is made from a feminine, family identity. Between conversations, grape treading and sensory tastings, she finds that some answers only appear when the body learns to feel.
The land
A tradition in the feminine
Viña Mujeres Itata is a family project in Ránquil led by María Loreto Alarcón, a third-generation winegrower and the first woman in her family to take on that craft directly.
In 2019 it opened its doors to wine tourism with experiences centered on the senses, the territory and women's work. In 2022 it was named Best Emerging Winery at the Enoturismo Chile Awards.
In 2024 it added the award for Best Wine Tourism Experience in Ñuble. Its tours, old vines and tastings connect wine, nature and memory, bringing to light the work of women that for generations was left out of the main story.

At Viña Mujeres, every glass holds more than grapes and time: it carries a memory passed down through generations and a different way of seeing, caring for and carrying on the Itata Valley.
